 z\, MD/PhD\, is an adult neurologist at the University of Colorado with a 
 subspecialization in neuroimmunology. He is the medical director for outpa
 tient neurology. He sees patients with autoimmune diseases affecting the c
 entral nervous system including multiple sclerosis\, neuromyelitis optica\
 , neurosarcoid\, neurolupus\, CNS vasculitis\, post-infectious neurologica
 l syndromes\, idiopathic optic neuritis and transverse myelitis at the Roc
 ky Mountain Multiple Sclerosis Center at the University of Colorado Denver
  and at Denver Health Hospital. He is particularly interested in improving
  outcomes in patients with MS including using biomarkers to choose the bes
 t treatment options and clinical trials. He is the principle investigator 
 on a number of clinical trials and clinical research studies involving pro
 mising therapies in the treatment of MS. He is director of the RMMSC biore
 pository where we collect blood\, CSF and other biosamples in search of bi
 omarkers in neuroimmunological disorders. Dr. Alvarez graduated from medic
 al and the neuroscience graduate school through the medical scientist trai
 ning program at the University of Colorado where he also did his internshi
 p year. He then completed his neurology residency and Neuroimmunology fell
 owship at Washington University in St. Louis though a Sylvia Lawry fellows
