Dr. Enrique Alvarez Exclusive Zoom Event

Dr. Enrique Alvarez joined us on Friday, February 12th, to speak exclusively to the MSASOCO and to answer our questions and concerns. A majority of us have been concerned about the Covid-19 pandemic and its vaccines. As a result, Dr. Alvarez tailored his lecture to address these concerns in particular. It was a wonderful lecture and we hope everyone gets a chance to view the video from the event. See the link below.

Enrique Alvarez, MD/PhD, is an adult neurologist at the University of Colorado with a subspecialization in neuroimmunology. He is the medical director for outpatient neurology. He sees patients with autoimmune diseases affecting the central nervous system including multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica, neurosarcoid, neurolupus, CNS vasculitis, post-infectious neurological syndromes, idiopathic optic neuritis and transverse myelitis at the Rocky Mountain Multiple Sclerosis Center at the University of Colorado Denver and at Denver Health Hospital. He is particularly interested in improving outcomes in patients with MS including using biomarkers to choose the best treatment options and clinical trials. He is the principle investigator on a number of clinical trials and clinical research studies involving promising therapies in the treatment of MS. He is director of the RMMSC biorepository where we collect blood, CSF and other biosamples in search of biomarkers in neuroimmunological disorders. Dr. Alvarez graduated from medical and the neuroscience graduate school through the medical scientist training program at the University of Colorado where he also did his internship year. He then completed his neurology residency and Neuroimmunology fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis though a Sylvia Lawry fellowship from the National MS Society.
